We led an interdisciplinary team of journalists, designers, coders, marketing and social media experts that

A Concept for the Relaunch of a Mobile App
Complete relaunch of the mobile app for the Swiss tabloid “blick.ch”, including the development of innovative
features, the repositioning of the brand, and redefining the corporate identity while taking into account the
requirements and desires of users.
In a multi-layered three month process, using user-centered methods like Design Thinking and Design For
Growth, we led three internal interdisciplinary teams in the development of a mission statement, prototypes
for a set of innovative features, the requirements documents for the design agency, and the requirements for
the technical implementation.

As one of the largest producers of food and beverages in Austria, Spitz depends on the consistent development of
exciting new products to sustain its growth. The company wanted to involve all employees in this important task
by building a culture of innovation throughout the organization.
We helped Spitz set up an interdisciplinary „Future Business Team“ that was trained in user-centered
innovation methods and develops new product ideas in a customized innovation process. Prototypes were
then converted into market-ready products.
Paid Content & Business Model Strategy
XING is the largest online business network in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and was redesigning their
content strategy in order to develop paid models around premium content and services.
In a four-month process with internal and external experts, we conducted a comprehensive market analysis
and quantitative and qualitative evaluation of user needs. Based on the research, we developed a high-level
concept for a paid content strategy with concrete product and price recommendations and presented it to Clevel management.

Klaus is a digital business expert with many years of experience in developing user-centered strategies and products. In 1995, he co-founded Austria’s leading media platform derStandard.at, the first German-language online newspaper. In 2013, he started the innovation consultancy “The Engagement Lab”. From 2019 to 2020, as COO, he developed a product and market strategy for Tonio, a US-Austrian StartUp in the broadcast sector.
Klaus deepened his expertise in the field of digital business models and user-centered innovation in 2012 during a one-year research and work stay as a Knight Fellowship Affiliate at Stanford University. He received training at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford School of Design (d.school).
Klaus studied Political Sciences at the University of Vienna and was a lecturer at the Hamburg Media School and at the Vienna University of Technology. After several years in Vienna, Palo Alto, Hamburg, Zurich, Oxford, and New York City, he is now based in Vienna.
